He’s […] barely considered a brother in most families. We share a father and some obligations.

It would be nice to speak with him but I don’t think any sibling relationship with him would be similar to how most people experience it.

idk none of us have sibs so we're not the experts here but I think there's lots of different ways to have a sibling relationship

There are, and I don’t plan to ignore him. But I think it will be a learning curve and I don’t want either of us to be disappointed.
