WHO: Tess & Nate
WHERE: Somewhere in HQ
WHEN: today
WHAT: Violence
WARNINGS: violence

It had taken a day or two to get over the shock of breaking up with her ex-wife, but the more she replayed the past few days, the more Tess was convinced that it had something to do with Nate.

She had exactly zero proof and no real reason behind this theory but sometimes you just knew. It went against everything she knew and believed as a scientist but some things, a woman just knew. The man had been acting weird ever since prom. Granted, it was for his own reasons, but Tess didn't believe in coincidences. It would be a stretch to apply string theory or the largely fictional holistic interconnectedness of all things[1] to the petri dish that was their home, but Tess did anyway because she needed to believe that there was a reason for the abrupt end to whatever situationship she was in with her ex-wife.

The clack-clack-clack of her stiletto heels were like a war drum as she stomped around headquarters, trying to pin down Nate Davis.

Said man was more difficult to find than usual given the fact that he was doing his damned level best to avoid one Jack Callahan and one Benjamin Baer. Ever since he and Emmett had started up their… whatever it was, guilt had been eating at him for complicating an already complicated situation. And since Toni was inexplicably ignoring him for the first time in their long, torrid history, he was on his own.

And his own screamed never stay in one place lest they find you.

But eventually, the quickshot clack of Tess’ heels caught up to him, and one look at the storm on her face informed him that he just might have a more immediate problem on his hands.

"You did this!" she all but yelled in his face, jabbing a manicured finger into his chest, without actually saying what he did that had her riled up quite that much. She didn't pause for breath but at least she lowered her voice somewhat before continuing, "I don't know how but you did."

Her tone of finality was then punctuated by a quick slap to his face, shocking even herself. She stared mutely at Nate with a slight look of horror before turning on her heel and power-walking away.

Cheek stinging, Nate stared mutely after her. Only once she was out of sight did he dare to speak: “What the hell was that about?”
